RWE Design Build transformed The Welcome Waggin through a 4,970-square-foot building addition designed to support the veterinary practice’s growth while preserving its warm, familiar identity. Rather than creating a traditional clinical environment, RWE helped bring to life a space that feels welcoming, nostalgic, and comfortable for pets, their owners, and the veterinary team.
RWE incorporated residential-inspired design elements throughout the addition to reinforce the practice’s home-like atmosphere. The reception and waiting areas create an inviting first impression through warm finishes, curved forms, custom millwork, integrated signage, and comfortable seating near the fireplace. Thoughtful pet-friendly details, including a dedicated dog bed area, help reduce the institutional feel commonly associated with veterinary facilities.
Beyond aesthetics, RWE integrated functional solutions that improve daily operations and connections between key spaces. The pharmacy window provides convenient access from reception, while the open main hallway, nurse station, exam rooms, and treatment areas were carefully planned to support efficient staff movement and clear circulation. Rounded corners, strategic lighting, built-in shelving, and custom niches help the expanded facility feel open, cohesive, and easy to navigate.
Color and material selections were used to create distinct experiences throughout the facility while maintaining a consistent design story. Blue-toned doors, decorative wallcoverings, bold treatment-area colors, patterned restroom finishes, and residential-style furnishings add personality without overwhelming the space. Each element supports the client’s goal of creating an environment centered on comfort rather than clinical formality.
Through integrated design and construction, RWE Design Build helped The Welcome Waggin expand its capabilities without losing the character its clients recognize and trust. The completed addition provides a functional veterinary environment that feels calm, personal, and thoughtfully connected to the practice’s brand and approach to care.
